June was a busy month for CFO and its regional affiliate foundations. Fourteen new funds were established last month, eleven of those with affiliates. Two new Agency Partner funds bring the total number of nonprofits CFO works with through its Agency Partners program to 311. June marks the end of the 2009 fiscal year, one marked with exciting milestones for the Foundation.
Friends of the Christian County Museum Fund – Frank Lorenz, Carole Collins and Elise Crain established this capacity building fund to provide for the facility needs of the Christian County museum. Grants will be made upon request of any two of the three donors. It is a component fund of the Finley River CF and currently has a $3,000 balance.
South Central Missouri Polled Hereford Association Endowed Scholarship Fund – It is a component fund of the Dent County CF and already has a balance of $20,700.
Mansfield Youth Gardening Project Fund – Mansfield Public Schools and Fordland Clinic established this fund to support a youth gardening project at Mansfield High School. This is a component fund of the Greater Seymour Area Foundation.
Gray Family Fund – This family and community fund was established to honor Suzy’s 20 years of service to CFO. Steve, Suzy, Jessica and Emily Gray will serve as the advisors.
Carthage Rotary Club Charitable Fund – The Carthage Rotary Club established this grantmaking fund to provide grants to public educational and charitable purposes. The club will serve as advisors to the fund. This is a component fund of CFSM.
Carthage Rotary Scholarship – The Carthage Rotary Club established this scholarship. They will pass money from the charitable fund to this scholarship fund. This is also a component fund of CFSM.
MSIPC Capacity Building Fund – The Missouri Southern International Piano Competition established this fund. It will distribute back to MSIPC or directly to vendors. The disbursements from this fund will be for payments of outstanding bills of the organizational and will be made upon the authority of two MSIPC board members. The fund will exist for two years from inception, and after said time, the balance of the Fund shall be transferred to the Vivian León Fund for the Musical Arts. This is component fund of CFSM. Money should be forthcoming.
The Vivian León Fund for the Musical Arts created by the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition – This field of interest fund will distribute to organizations (including colleges/universities) that offer classical musical programs with an emphasis on piano performance to the community and/or to schools in the Jasper & Newton county area of Southwest Missouri according to the procedure laid out in the document. This is also a component of CFSM.
Rosa Leah Spencer Memorial Scholarship Fund – Fred Spencer established this scholarship with the Dora R-III School Foundation to award to a Dora student with financial need who demonstrates leadership qualities exemplified by involvement in school and/or school activities. This is a component fund of the Ozark County CF. Criteria and the selection committee have also been established.
Springfield-Greene County Regional Health Commission Fund – This organizational capacity building fund will support the work of the newly created Health Commission. Distributions will be made to the Springfield-Greene County Health Dept. Carmen Bradshaw is the contact for this fund. This is a new AP in the health sector.

Daniel F. Hedgpeth Memorial Fund – Chlorene Hedgpeth, John F. (Fred) Hedgpeth II and Laura Haseltine established this fund in memory of their son and brother, Daniel F. Hedgpeth. This designated endowment fund will distribute equally to the Children’s Smile Center in Ozark, the Special Forces Ministry and Victory Mission. $7,491 came in as memorial gifts and the family rounded it out to $10,000. It is a component fund of the Finley River Community Foundation.
Lagniappe Fund – Michelle and Richard Ducre established this family and community fund. Their sons Kai and Davin will also help make grant recommendations from the Lagniappe Fund, which means “something extra.” This is a component fund of CF of Southwest Missouri. Springfield Ballet General Fund – This organizational capacity building fund will hold operational, administrative and general funds for the Springfield Ballet. This is an additional AP (agency partner) fund for them.
Rockaway Beach Economic Development Fund – This field of interest fund will support the economic development of Rockaway Beach, Missouri. This is a component fund of the Taney County Community Foundation. The fund was established by Jack Herschend.
