5 Pound Apparel owner shares his story of giving back

This week’s CFO column on the News-Leader’s Community page highlights focuses on insights shared by Five Pound Apparel owner Bryan Simpson at our Agency Partners luncheon in early August.

Simpson, a former soccer player and business major turned entrepreneur, delivered the keynote for more than 150 nonprofit representatives. He shared how a random stop to help a stranger push his car off of U.S. 65 near Fair Grove inspired his group of friends to start a business that gave back, a mission Simpson eventually fulfilled with Five Pound, which has two locations in Springfield. By giving a share of every sale to a nonprofit — either in Springfield or around the world — Simpson and his business set the standard for a “double bottom line” among small for-profit businesses.
