Agency Partners Update

CFO is stepping up our efforts to serve the nonprofit community in the South Central Ozarks, from Ava to Poplar Bluff, and is pleased to announce a special event for organizations in that area. Grant funding workshop for Agency Partners serving South Central MO
The Springfield-Greene County Library’s Funding Information Center will host trainings for CFO Agency Partners in several Ozarks communities through the fall, including one on August 27 in West Plains and in Ava on August 7 with an additional session on September 4. Space is limited for all sessions, so be sure to act fast.
This training will introduce nonprofit organizations in Community Foundation of the Ozarks affiliate communities to the Springfield-Greene County Library’s Funding Information Center (FIC) resources and teach them how to use the information effectively. It will include an overview of philanthropy and the electronic resources available, particularly the Foundation Directory Online Professional database. Nonprofit organizations will learn how to locate and approach funders most closely aligned with their mission and goals and will learn how to organize their materials and focus on specific information and techniques that will lead to successful proposals.
West Plains: Two seminars will be held on August 27 from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., at the OMC Foundation Room. To register or for more information, contact the West Plains Chamber of Commerce at (417) 256-4483. Space is limited.
Ava: Seminars will be held on August 7 from 10 a.m. to Noon and September 4 at the Super 8 conference center. To register and for more information please contact, the Ava Chamber of Commerce at (417) 683-4594. Space is limited.

2008.09 Endowment Building Grant Program recipients announced
CFO awarded a total of more than $16,000 to 13 of its Agency Partners from across the Ozarks as part of the 2008.09 Endowment Building Grants Program. The program is designed to provide grants to Agency Partners in support of their efforts to plan for, develop, and implement endowment-building programs. 2008.09 Essential Questions presentation schedule available
The 2008.09 Essential Questions series kicks off on September 23 with a presentation titled Building Philanthropic Assets for History Museums, and continues through the spring. GO LEAD/GOLD presents: “Creating High Impact Nonprofits”
On September 4, 2008, MSU’s GO LEAD and GOLD nonprofit leadership development program will present “Creating High Impact Nonprofits,” a special seminar featuring Leslie Crutchfield, award-winning coauthor of the book Forces for Good: the Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits. This half day seminar will explore questions such as hat creates real and lasting social change and how do highly effective nonprofit organizations operate. This seminar was funded in part through a grant from Community Foundation of the Ozarks, part of our service commitment to our Agency Partners and the Ozarks’ nonprofit community.
The seminar takes place Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at Kentwood Hall, 700 E St. Louis St., Springfield. Registration is $65 per person and includes a copy of the book, Forces for Good. Mark Your Calendars: Regional Meetings schedule set
CFO will again host regional meetings this fall. Board members from regional affiliate foundations and leaders from area Agency Partners are invited to this year’s regional meetings to brainstorm and discuss issues important to their work in the community. Topics at the meetings include a CFO update, new giving strategies, planned giving discussions, and others.
The meeting schedule is as follows:

October 8 – Clinton
October 14 – Carthage
October 16 – Branson
