Ozarks Empowerment Project

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks recognizes that non-profit agencies, school partners and our network of regional affiliates are the impetus for much of the good and important work that happens in our region.

These groups enhance the quality of our lives, provide needed services and grants to the less fortunate, and offer myriad programs and opportunities that improve our communities.

Yet, we know both our non-profit and affiliate partners struggle with resource development, training and capacity for growth. We hear again and again that our agency partners and affiliates would like training for staff and volunteers, board and resource development skills, and new tools to increase their capacity for community building and the philanthropic causes they embrace.

In response, the CFO began the Ozarks Empowerment Project, a series of initiatives to build stronger agencies and stronger communities across the Ozarks.

The CFO currently is offering the program at no cost to two communities: the Owensville area in central Missouri, and the Clinton/Henry County area in our region covered by the Truman Lake Community Foundation. These programs are designed to bring community members together for a series of about 12 sessions over the course of a year or so. The program will focus on the community’s leadership development, asset mapping, data analysis, goal setting and measurement. The goal is to create an action plan for the community with associated goals, outcomes and performance measures.
