Our affiliate in Oregon County, the Alton Community Foundation, held its inaugural, two-day Ozarks Beatlemania concert in West Plains and Alton on Sept. 12-13. The event commemorated The Beatles’ 1964 sojourn to Pigman Ranch, a tour rest stop at the hight of Beatlemania. On Sept. 25, the ACF made two grants to local organizations using the proceeds from that event.

(Top photo) On Sept. 25,the Alton Community Foundation gave a $1,000 grant to the Alton Chamber of Commerce to assist with the upgrading of electrical boxes on the Alton town square.  The electrical improvements will allow community groups and organizations to have better access to electrical needs for festivals and other outside community activities and events.

(Bottom photo) The Alton Community Foundation used funds generated from the Ozarks Beatlemania Festival to present a grant of $5,000 to the Alton Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund. The local fire department building currently can house only two of the department’s three fire trucks. The third truck is incapacitated during the cold winter months due to the inability of the fire department to house it properly.
