Foundation chief has Beatles stories to tell

This week’s CFO Community column is a fun one. It takes a look at one of our smallest – but mightiest – affiliate foundations, the Alton Community Foundation. Nestled in Oregon County, you’d think it would be as far away as possible from a worldwide music phenomenon, even one from the 1960s. But you’d be wrong.

Brenda Ledgerwood is the president of the ACF, which is spearheading Ozarks Beatlemania!, a two-day festival this September to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four’s mid-tour sojourn to Pigman Ranch, near Alton, where Ledgerwood’s father was a foreman. The retreat is the stuff of legend in South-Central Missouri, and Ledgerwood and the foundation hope to draw on that, while doing some good for the community.

The CFO’s column runs weekly in rotation with other organizations on the News-Leader’s Community page, which is published daily. We appreciate this opportunity to share our work with News-Leader readers across the region.
