Daily milk break makes big difference for Springfield students

This week’s CFO column on the News-Leader’s Community page takes a look at Healthy Half-Pints, an initiative started by our Funders Forum, which provides daily snack milk at a handful of Springfield schools.

These afternoon milk breaks are intended to fill the gap between school lunch, which can be as early as 10:30 a.m., and the children’s next meal. For many in these schools, that next meal possibly won’t come until the next day at school. So far, more than 150,000 cartons of milk have been provided to students, with more coming when school begins next month.

The CFO’s column runs every Tuesday, in rotation with other organizations on the News-Leader’s Community page, which is published daily. We appreciate this opportunity to share our work with News-Leader readers across the region.
