We want to express our condolences to the family of Fred Lemons, the president of the Lockwood Community Foundation, who died this week at 87. Fred was a champion for his community, where he spent most of his career in banking. He and his beloved wife of 65-plus years, LaRue, the longtime Lockwood mayor, were the forces behind many community improvements in Lockwood, including starting the Community Foundation and the Lockwood R-1 School Foundation.

Fred and LaRue’s story was included in a book the CFO produced for its 40th anniversary last year, which is posted here.

Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Community Foundation or the Lockwood United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be shared at www.greenfieldfuneralchapel.com. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
