The Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri will present the first set of Joplin Recovery Fund grants for five projects focusing on affordable housing at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 8.
The grants will be presented at the beginning of the Long-Term Recovery Committee meeting at the Mystery Church, 514 S. Main St., Joplin.
The grants will total about $1.925 million of the $2.5 million grant cycle. The grant review committee is still considering requests that weren’t directly related to the focus on affordable housing. These grants are made possible by the generosity of donors to the Joplin Recovery Fund, along with the Lilly Endowment, Inc., the Home Depot Foundation, and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.
This is the second round of grants made from the Joplin Recovery Fund, administered by the CFSWMO, the Joplin-based affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. In September 2011, the CFSWMO’s grant review committee made 18 awards totaling $300,000 to non-profit agencies that were either directly affected by the May 22 tornado or experienced an increased impact on the services they provide for storm survivors.
