Ladies First event to be held in West Plains

Grab your gal pals, leave your troubles behind and step into a tropical getaway at the Ladies First Escape to the Caribbean on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the West Plains Civic Center. The event is a fun-filled evening “for women only” hosted by Ozarks Medical Center (OMC), the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the West Plains Civic Center. Admission to the event is free. Women of all ages are invited. The evening will include a presentation by a nationally known humorist and motivational speaker Judy Carter, and the giveaway of a five-day Caribbean cruise for two.

“Ladies First is all about empowering women to take steps to improve their physical and mental health,” said OMC Manager of Education, Richard Ingalls. “With family, careers and the stresses of day-to-day life, we wanted to provide a relaxing, fun evening for women that can help provide them with the tools they need to achieve their health goals.”

From 4 to 6:30 p.m. will be activities, including cooking demonstrations, free screenings, a fashion show, booth displays and information on a variety of topics, including health, nutrition, financial planning, stress relief, feeling good and much more. As women travel through the Caribbean-themed event, they will have the opportunity to have their event passports stamped at various “ports of call.” The stamped passports can then be used to enter a drawing for the Caribbean cruise for two.

Then, at 6:30 p.m. will be a performance by motivational humorist Judy Carter in the Civic Center Theater. Carter has been featured on the Oprah Show, CNN and ABC World News for her ability to teach others to use comedy to transform their lives and careers. This event is also free, but seating is limited and tickets must be obtained in advance to guarantee a seat in the theater.

“OMC is thrilled to partner with the Community Foundation for such a worthwhile event that has the potential to impact so many lives,” Ingalls said.

Local organizations and businesses that meet the needs of women are invited to participate in the event. The fee to have a booth at Ladies First is $75 for for-profit companies and $50 for not-for profit organizations.
