The subject of the most recent “Making a Difference: Stories of Hope and Help” segment with KSMU radio’s Mike Smith is the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation. Because of the generosity of Mrs. Coover, the CFO, in cooperation with The Commerce Trust, operates the Coover Charitable Regional Grantmaking Program. A longtime employee of Commerce Bank, Mrs. Coover established the foundation in 1992 in memory of her husband. Since then it has distributed nearly $5 million to nonprofits and schools across the Ozarks.
For this segment, CFO Grants Program Officer Bridget Dierks spoke with Jill Reynolds, a former CFO board president and Vice-President of The Commerce Trust. Mrs. Coover’s generosity and her passion for helping others is a tradition both the CFO and The Commerce Trust are so pleased to carry on. The segment will air again this afternoon on KSMU, and you can hear a longer version of it online at KSMU.org.
The deadline for applications for the 2017 round of regional grants is 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.
Thanks, as always, to Smith and KSMU for supporting philanthropy across the Ozarks. Mrs. Coover would be proud.
