Academy of Women Executives of Rural Missouri

The Nonprofit Services Center (NSC) is proud to announce and seeking applications for the Academy of Women Executives of Rural Missouri. The Academy is open to women outside of St. Louis city/county and will run from March 2009 until February 2010. Deadline to apply is January 30, 2009.

The Academy of Women Executives of Rural Missouri is an intensive ten month experience that includes executive coaching, peer support networking, skill building institutes lead by leading local and national thought leaders in governance, fund development, financial sustainability, marketing/communication, and organizational best practice. The Academy is open to executive directors of programs with budgets of $250,000 or more and with at least two full time staff serving a wide array of community needs (excluding organizations serving the arts or animals).

The new academy is facilitated by Dr. Theresa Mayberry and sponsored by an anonymous donor. The Academy’s donor is committed to improving the leadership developmental process, organizational performance, and program outcomes for rural executives and their organizations vital to the delivery systems in their communities.

MFH Capacity Building – Technical Assistance Grant Program

NSC serves as the primary contact for MFH Capacity Building – Technical Assistance Grant Program.

Types of Activities Eligible for Funding:

The MFH Capacity Building – Technical Assistance Grants Program is focused on specific, discrete, short-term interventions that will help an organization (or coalition of organizations) be more efficient in its mode of operating and effective in accomplishing its mission objectives. In 2009, the types of activities that will receive funding under this program are as follows:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Short-term Business and Financial Planning
  • Fund Development
  • Program Evaluation
  • Strategic Communications
  • Management Systems Development:
  • Financial Management Systems: Assisting organizations with an assessment and understanding of accounting systems, risk assessment, budgeting activities (i.e., cash flow, cost benefits analysis, etc.) and grant protocol and management.
  • Human Resources Management Systems: Assisting organizations with process and/or procedural improvements to such areas as recruitment and retention, employee relations, and compensation.
