On behalf of the Junior League of Springfield, we invite you to join us at the The Community Summit: Focus on Poverty from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Springfield Art Museum. The event serves as official release of the 2015 Community Focus Report, as well as a kickoff for The Northwest Project, a five-year commitment by the CFO to help lift families out of poverty in Springfield’s City Council Zone 1, which comprises most of the northwest section of the city. The goal: Intensive collaboration among three or more agencies to effectively treat the identified symptoms of poverty in Springfield. The CFO is committing $100,000 for each the next five years, with an intent to secure additional resources from other community funders.
A Request for Proposals will go out at that time, with the selection process taking place in the first quarter of 2016. The Northwest Project replaces the Community Response Challenge grants, which for several years had provided matching funds to individual nonprofits addressing CFR-identified red flags.
