The Springfield chapter of the Youth Empowerment Project made a handful of youth-oriented community grants this spring. The group, consisting of students from each Springfield public high school, Study Alternative High School, Greenwood, and Catholic, makes the grantmaking decisions themselves based on student applications.
The 2014 grants, totaling $2,000, went to:
Study Food Pantry, $500
Ozarks Regional YMCA (lessons for teens who have not learned to swim), $400
Rare Breed Youth Outreach (greenhouse and garden project), $500
Springfield Council of PTAs, $500
Big Brothers Big Sisters, $100
The CFO and Youth Empowerment Project congratulate all of the awardees. For more information on the Youth Empowerment Project, visit yepozarks.org.
