Truman Lake Community Foundation held their annual Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, October 22nd at the Holy Rosary Parish Hall. Fund donors, board members, and grant recipients gathered for a delicious dinner prepared by the Altar Guild.
President Randy Shipman gave his report, remembering the wonderful things our grants have accomplished in this community in just the last year. Kathy Garnett, the 2013 Grant Committee Chair, reminded all of the Spring 2013 grants that were awarded and announced the Fall 2013 grants. Fifteen checks were presented to well-deserving recipients with a total of $11,314.04 granted.
Sandra Thomason introduced the guest speakers – Travis Liles, West Region Manager, and Winter Skelton, Development Operations Officer, from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Their presentation concerned the large transfer of wealth that will occur in the next 50 years in the United States, Missouri, and here in Henry County as money passes from the baby boomer generation to the next. Winter encouraged everyone to think charitably about their hometown and make plans to be charitable, even in a small way!
