Learn about the 2018–2019 competitive grant cycles
Join us at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, for a one-hour event at the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for agency partner representatives. Vice President of Programs Bridget Dierks will outline grant opportunities for the 2019 fiscal year available to both rural and Springfield-Greene County agency partners. Additionally, she will provide greater detail on the new Springfield-Greene County Diversity and Inclusion grant program and provide a first look at the new Springfield-Greene County Senior Citizen Mental Health grant program. For regional agencies, this year’s Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation Regional Grantmaking Program, a partnership with The Commerce Trust Co., will make $250,000 available for needs in rural communities. The educational session will conclude with an opportunity for agency matchmaking and collaboration for those looking to build grantee application partnerships. Please RSVP by clicking here.
Free mental health first aid training centers on youth
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, the CFO will host a free training course covering mental health first aid for youth. The session is facilitated by the Community Partnership of the Ozarks and will use role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social and self-help care. The course is designed for adults who regularly interact with adolescents—particularly teachers, athletic coaches, mentors, juvenile justice professionals and others—though older adolescents may find the course useful to encourage peer-to-peer interaction. Those who complete the course will receive a three-year “Youth Mental Health First Aider” national certification. Lunch is included and an RSVP by Sept. 17 is required.
