Applications for two fall grant rounds, focusing on student conservation and metro-Springfield arts and culture programs, are due this week.
The deadline for the Rural Schools Partnership‘s 2013 YEP Student Conservation Grants is this Thursday, Oct. 31 (Halloween) at 5 p.m. Only Youth Empowerment Project chapters are eligible to apply, though collaboration with other district programs and classrooms is encouraged. Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded for projects including (but not limited to) water or wildlife conservation efforts, outdoor learning opportunities, school or community recycling or garden projects, and more.

For the first time in 2013, the annual Metropolitan Springfield Arts and Culture grantmaking program is being administered by the Springfield Regional Arts Council. The deadline for the 2013-14 SRAC grant cycle, which includes matching grants for SRAC-member programs with budgets less than $150,000 (Category 1) and competitive $1,500 for any-size member program for sustainability initiatives or other innovative programming (Category 2).
