About The Joplin Recovery Fund

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks, and its affiliate, the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri, Inc., established the Joplin Recovery Fund on Monday, May 23, 2011, to assist with mid- to long-term recovery efforts.

In seeding the fund with a $10,000 grant, the CFO/CFSWMO also announced that 100 percent of donations to the Joplin Recovery Fund would be available for Joplin’s efforts.

The CFO/CFSWMO are partnering with regional community foundations in Kansas City, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Southeast Kansas, which will direct recovery donations through the process established for the Joplin Recovery Fund.

The CFO/CFSWMO also have established a number of other funds designated for Joplin relief and recovery, which are listed in the Funds section. While the CFO/CFSWMO provide administrative, investment and management services for these funds, the distributions from those funds will be directed by those who established them within normal non-profit grantmaking eligibility rules.

All donations made to any of the Joplin disaster assistance funds at the CFO/CFSWMO are tax exempt to the fullest extent allowed by the IRS.
