Nixa Community Foundation highlights community grantmaking

The Nixa Community Foundation’s community grantmaking program was featured on KY3 news on Sunday, August 3 for a grant awarded to the city’s police department for an online stolen property tracker. IT was an excellent reminder of the role that our unrestricted community grantmaking programs play by responding to local needs with local resources. You read more about the story on our web site,

The news story coincides with the Nixa Community Foundation’s recent efforts to get the community involved in raising funds for the Cooper Campaign. Recently, leaders from the Nixa CF sent letters to members of the community explaining the Cooper Campaign as well as the role of unrestricted grantmaking, including examples of grants awarded, while encouraging recipients to get involved by making a contribution. Another letter encouraged local businesses to get involved and included 10 ways they could help out and have fun. Suggestions ranged from the more traditional means such as a raffle and change jar to more active pursuits such as a moustache contest and Ugly Tie Day.
