This week’s CFO Community column in the Springfield News-Leader is about the recently released Columbus Survey, a benchmark study that ranks the nation’s 300+ community foundations by assets size, transactions and other measures.
By any list, the CFO – which covers the southern part of our state, south of the Missouri River – is active. We rank 63rd in the U.S. in total assets, nestled between Fremont, Neb., and the Greater St. Louis Community Foundation.
It’s in volume where we crack the top ten: In number of transactions, the CFO ranks 8th. The CFO’s four-person finance team is the eighth busiest in the entire country–ahead of total assets leader, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. We need to take them more coffee.

The CFO’s column runs weekly in rotation with other organizations on the News-Leader’s Community page, which is published daily. We appreciate this opportunity to share our work with News-Leader readers across the region.
