Fund honors late nursing student, helps people in need

This week’s CFO Community column is about the Lindsay Austin Smith Community Crisis Fund, which was established by Todd and Tracy Smith in memory of their daughter following her tragic death in 2011.

It’s a field-of-interest fund held by the Community Foundation of Ozarks, one of a handful serving specific needs as specified by the donors. The Smiths take applications from across the Ozarks to help families suffering financial hardship, be it because of death, illness, natural disaster or something else.

Annual rodeo in Fair Grove serves as the primary fundraiser for the fund. Held just last weekend, the 2014 rodeo raised more money than ever before.

The CFO’s column runs weekly in rotation with other organizations on the News-Leader’s Community page, which is published daily. We appreciate this opportunity to share our work with News-Leader readers across the region.
