Tickets are still available for what is being billed as Springfield’s “cultural convergence” of the year with the annual Ozzie Awards, benefiting the Springfield Regional Arts Council, an agency partner with the CFO.
This is the third year the Springfield-Branson National Airport will host the Sat., Sept. 8, event, but the format is new with a dinner featuring performances by Springfield arts groups interspersed with the Ozzie Awards being presented to the following arts supporters:
Mrs. Winifred Nixon — Individual Award
Claymobile — Organization Award
Positronic Industries — Corporate Award
Mr. Don Wessel — Legacy Award
Mr. Cameron Rose — Volunteer Award
The event begins at 6 p.m., and the masters of ceremonies should be reason enough to attend. Beth Domann with Springfield Little Theatre and Jeff Jenkins with The Skinny Improv are co-hosting the evening’s program.

The first Ozzie Awards were given by the SRAC in 1985 and have since been awarded to those who have embodied the pioneering creative spirit on the Springfield and Southwest Missouri arts scene. Each year a five-member Selection Committee chooses performers, facilitators, benefactors, individuals or organizations which promote, personify and/or support artistic achievement in the Springfield area.
