New details for 2021
Winners announced at annual Affiliate Appreciation Conference
The 2021 Affiliate of the Year program will be measured in two parts:
1. Percentage growth in four categories from FY21 (July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021). Baseline numbers from June 2020 will be provided to each affiliate foundation.
- Asset Growth
- Assets include all assets/funds under your affiliate umbrella. Opening new funds could contribute to asset growth
- New Funds
- Any new fund under your affiliate foundation between July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
- Funds established for planned gifts would count toward the new funds opened
- Overall Grantmaking
- This includes all grants and distributions coming from funds under your affiliate, including agency partner funds, donor-advised and family funds, scholarships, etc.
- Legacy Society Members
- Measured by number of new Legacy Society members under your affiliate foundation added between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021.
2. Respond to the question: “How has your affiliate foundation applied the principles of leadership and community collaboration to your community in the last year?”
- To be eligible to win an award, your affiliate must submit a response to this question by Sept. 30.
Awards
The eight affiliate foundations with staff in FY21 will be in a separate category from affiliates that have an entirely volunteer board. There will be a total of $20,000 in grants awarded for the 2021 Affiliate of the Year program.

- First Place: $6,000
- Second Place: $3,000
- Affiliates with volunteer leadership (45)
- First Place: $6,000
- Second Place: $3,000
- Third Place: $2,000
