New grant program to support farmers' communities
Through its purpose to improve the lives of people, animals and the planet through food, and a commitment to supporting the communities where its network of more than 425 family farmers live and work, Vital Farms is launching a grant program administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
With $125,000 available, the Vital Farms Local Impact Grantmaking Program will support projects that improve its farmers’ communities in four focus areas:
- Animal Welfare
- Improving Access to Food/Transparency in Food Systems
- Youth & Education
- Agriculture
The program is open to 501(c)3 nonprofits or organizations with similar tax-exempt status, such as school districts, government entities and faith-based organizations, serving 22 counties in which Vital Farms’ farmers operate throughout Missouri: Adair, Bates, Benton, Cedar, Cooper, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Howard, Howell, Laclede, Lawrence, Moniteau, Morgan, Oregon, Pettis, Polk, St. Clair, Texas, Vernon, Webster and Wright county. Supported by the Vital Farms Corporate Grantmaking Fund held by the CFO, the program will close at 11:45 p.m. on May 14.
“Vital Farms is committed to raising the standards in our food system alongside our more than 425 family farms, many of whom are located right here in the Ozarks,” said Jennifer Gregg, vice president of farm operations for Vital Farms. “This important work begins with our farmers, and this grant program is in recognition of the incredible impact they have in the communities where they live and work.”
