Rural Schools program featured in Washington Monthly

The Washington Monthly publishes an online journal devoted to philanthropic topics from a nonpartisan perspective. The CFO was invited to write a piece about the innovative practices used by our Rural Schools Partnership, which are aimed at strengthening rural schools. The CFO is committed to sustaining rural education for many reasons, including the fact that schools are often the anchor of their rural communities and if the schools close or consolidate, it deals a terrible blow to the communities.

CFO Media Director Matt Lemmon wrote the piece published today in the Washington Monthly looking at the impact of the rural education foundations, the Placeworks Art Initiative, the Ozarks Teacher Corps and our partnership with the Rural Schools Collaborative, which is extending many of these concepts to a larger geographic scale.
