Springfield Sister Cities Association Establishes Japan Relief Fund

The Springfield Sister Cities Association announced today that it is accepting donations for Japan in honor of Springfield’s long-standing relationship with our sister city of Isesaki, Japan.

The Sister Cities Japan Relief Fund will accept donations that will be directed to Isesaki to determine how to direct the funds toward the greatest needs in Japan. Isesaki was not seriously damaged by last week’s earthquake or tsunami.

Tax-deductible donations may be made out to: Sister Cities Japan Relief Fund and sent to: The Community Foundation of the Ozarks, 425 E. Trafficway, Springfield, Mo., 65806. Donations also may be made online; please note “Sister Cities Japan Relief Fund” in the fund/program box.

The Community Foundation will forward the funds to Japan at the direction of the Springfield Sister Cities Association. The tradition of assistance goes back to both the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack and the 2007 ice storm, when residents of Isesaki collected funds for relief efforts here.
