Truman Lake Community Foundation makes spring grants

We always love sharing news and photos of our affiliate foundations’ community grant rounds. Recently the Truman Lake Community Foundation, serving Henry County and based in Clinton, funded five outstanding community projects with its 2015 Spring grant awards.  Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has awarded 194 grants totaling nearly $276,000.

Henry Elementary Title Reading

Henry Elementary Title Reading Program received a grant to purchase the “Handprints” series reading books that will be used by more than 100 K-2 students. Picured (left to right) are Robert Wheeler, TLCF Grant Committee Chair, teacher Denise Craig and TLCF Board member Sandie Sorbo.

CHS After Prom

Henry County Rescue Mission 2

Henry County Rescue Mission received a grant to assist with their Project Hope.  This program helps meet immediate physical needs of underserved individuals of any age. Parents As Teachers 2

Parents As Teachers representatives (left to right) Judi Honeywell and Leslie Powell received a grant award from Sandie Sorbo, TLCF Board member and Robert Wheeler, TLCF Grant Committee Chair.  The grant will fund the purchase of produce and craft supplies for the PAT’s Family Farm Night.

Traveling Day Camp 1

Clinton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Clinton, received a grant to fund one leader and four counselors for this summer’s Traveling Day Camp.  This camp is a cooperative effort of the Christian Church and Clinton’s First Presbyterian Church and is free of charge for up to 42 area youngsters.  Pictured left to right Robert Wheeler, TLCF Grant Committee Chair, Rev.
